The Execution of Mrs. Ann Hibbins, C. 1886
Lynn & Surroundings, by Clarence W. Hobbs, Lynn, Mass.: Lewis and Winship Publishers, 1886.: 52. Artist: F. T. Merrill
In 1692, 156 men, women, and children were accused of witchcraft during the New England Witch trials. While these accusations were ultimately false, the depiction of those who practiced witchcraft at this time were drastically skewed by the dogmatic view of the Protesants. In order to develop a deeper understanding of the horrors of the New England Witch Trials, this exhibit explores artistic depictions, craft types, and other means of art meant to depict the actions of the 1692 witch trials.
