This image depicts a generalized scene of an afflicted girl on the room of a courtroom. The main accusers during the Salem witch trials were a group of girls aged 9 to 20. Elizabeth Paris, Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam Jr, Elizabeth Hubbard, Mary Walcott, Mercy Lewis, and Mary Lewis would writhe around on the floor, scream, bark, and display other alarming symptoms during the trials of their accused. These displays were taken heavily into consideration when convicting the accused.

Family's of those accused were often ripped apart during the trials. It was not uncommon for whole families to be accused of witchcraft. Family members would stand up for their loved ones, which would lead to them being accused.
